For all critiques of Florida’s curriculum, the state has perhaps one of the best science standards in the country. Elementary science benchmarks are well thought out and leveled.
Florida students love learning science. It is possible that living in such an ecologically diverse state makes everyone want to learn more about this amazing environment that surrounds us, from trees, and woodpeckers to lizards, stingrays, and dolphins.
Even though science is not assessed until 5th grade, immersing students in scientific inquiry and exploration is a gradual process that takes years of preparation.
It is important to note that the current Elevate Science textbooks can only serve as reference guides at best, which leaves a lot of room for science curriculum enrichment.
Providing students with comprehensive units of study, to begin with, will save prep time, and initial instructional time, and assist with review and/or test prep since the units are able to be shared digitally in and outside of the classroom.
Even better, the Florida Science 3rd Grade Year Long Curriculum includes all units of study to take you from the first to the last day of school. This bundle is also ideal for Florida homeschoolers.
Each unit includes readings, visual presentations, hands-on activities, new vocabulary studies, short answer questions, and much more.
Not only will students engage with the rich curriculum content, but they will also be able to connect their new learning with other lessons and personal experiences.
The post-lesson assessments will help you gauge students’ content mastery and readiness for the unit assessment.
