“Other Words for Home” by Jasmine Warga is a beautiful new novel for middle schoolers. With a heavy heart, Jude leaves Syria, her father, and her brother, for Cincinnati, Ohio. She not only needs to learn a new language, but has to start middle school in a new country, make new friends, and be brave and hopeful in spite of all that is and can go wrong. This charming coming-of-age realistic fiction book has been receiving rave reviews. Jude leaves Syria with the words “be brave” and she not only lives up to “be brave”, but she makes everyone around her double-check their own notions of how things can and should be.

Other Words for Home Novel Guide has been one of my bestsellers on TpT. I shared this novel guide after seeing how much my middle schoolers loved the story, learning about poetry and world history. To purchase this novel guide go to: Other Words for Home Novel Guide
