“Hanukkah Bear” by Eric A. Kimmel is a perfect kindergarten book, funny, rich with inferencing, with tradition and history of Hanukkah braided into the story. This is a repeated read. Happy Hanukkah!
Oscar and the Eight Blessings – Another Holiday Favorite – by Richard and Tanya Simon
“Oskar and the Eight Blessings” by Richard and Tanya Simon is a holiday story of hope that rings true and relates to all of us, past and present. As Richard Simon pointed out in his note, the story of Oscar isn’t only a story of a young refugee boy, it is a story of hope. Oscar comes to New York City with the fear of uncertainty, yet he finds hope in people, who offer help, kindness, and shelter. Life can take away everything form us, except for our attitude, ideas, and hope. It’s our actions that define us not our possessions.
Wonderful life lesson for kids of all ages.
