Teaching Analogies – SAT, SSAT, ISEE

image-3Teaching analogies is important and fun, but unless students have been exposed to analogies in the past, getting a solid grasp during test preparation can also translate to stress.  The most common categories of analogies are:

1. Contrast   2. Part to Whole   3. Part to Part  4. Activity to Result  5. Use

6. Individual to object   7. Measurement     8. Degree of difference to similarity

In the past, I have reviewed a couple of really good apps that teach analogies. For a grade and level break down practice sheets, visit englishforeveryone.org. They have a wealth of great materials.
